![]() ![]() ![]() I'm in or around DE a lot, and while there are already tons of great places to eat.there's always room for another spot, especially one with vegan options. Definitely on the bottom of the Deep Ellum food chain.Įxcellent find for me in Deep Ellum. Shoes sticking to the floor every step didn't make it any more appetizing. The service was friendly, but horribly slow, two hours just to get a drink and sandwich/pasta. Nothing like cold, globs of cheese on hard bread. The grilled cheese didn't come close to the description in the menu (multiple cheeses, roasted bell peppers, mushrooms, pesto, grilled on white or wheat) It did have multiple cheeses, but the bell peppers were sliced and barely sauteed (almost raw), there were NO mushrooms and the bread was dry and hard. The chicken caprese pasta was the best thing of the evening, but not worth $13. (Both drinks were still sitting on the table after we finished eating, untouched after the first sips.) We ordered an appetizer that was alright, but overdone on the edges. We were given that drink (to look at?) while we waited for the next one. The first cocktail we were served wasn't what we ordered, or anywhere close. I'm going to go back in the future, and I will update my review when I do.Their selection of beer, draft and bottle, is great. It's also a great option for some vegan dishes as well. I would say this.based on it's location, Anvil Pub is a great choice for drinks and a bite if you're headed that way to go to a concert or something. I honestly could have done it myself.but it wasn't bad or anything. They were basically sauteed zucchini and squash chunks with some avocado and meatless crumbles on corn tortillas. I ordered the vegan tacos and a mimosa (it was still close to brunch time). The main reason that I came here was because I read that they have a lot of vegan options. NBA and racing happened to be on a couple of them at the time. A couple of monitors dot the walls above the bar and on the walls. ![]() They have a huge bar with plenty of seating. Inside, it's pretty dark unless you get a place by the windows. The weather was nice, and they do have some limited outdoor seating, but unfortunately it was all taken. Their drink list is pretty extensive (hopefully so, it's a pub) so you should be able to find your beverage of choice. Anvil Pub is close to a lot of great music spots (Dada, Trees, etc.) so it's definitely a great option for a few drinks before and after a show. Their selection of beer, draft and bottle, is great. ![]()
